Asay Scheel to Celebrate 95th Birthday
Evelyn Frances Sphar Asay Scheel of Tower Hill will celebrate her 95th birthday with friends and family at an open house from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, November 29 at the Mound Chapel Church of God 109 W Manchester Dr Decatur, Illinois.

Mrs. Asay Scheel was born November 27, 1914, in Tower Hill to Grover and Hazel (Gladman) Sphar. Over the years she has been a wonderful big sister to her three brothers, Leland Sphar (deceased), Carl Sphar of Tower Hill, Lowell Sphar (deceased) and her baby sister Wilma Sphar Bradshaw Grotjan of Flagler Beach, FL. She married Donald Asay in Valparaiso, Indiana 1937. He passed away in 1963. She married Arthur Scheel in Roselle, Illinois 1977. He passed away in 1995.
Among many of the jobs she has held through the years, she enjoyed being a Postal Worker in Roselle, Illinois for several years and is a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Chapter 399. She was a foster grandparent at Headstart for 10 years and volunteered for several groups including the Senior Citizens Center. She is an active member at the Mound Chapel Church of God, and has enjoyed being a greeter there for many years.
She is the mother of Alan Asay of Decatur, Donald Asay of Mt. Zion, Alice Kirk of Houston, TX and Timothy Asay of Pennsylvania.
She has three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
