Question: I am a Christian, why do I still struggle with sin?
Being a Christian does not make you immune from sinning; being a Christian makes you realize how much you sin and how much you need God. All people struggle with sin, but some just don’t call it sin; they call it addictions, bad habits, issues, problems; but sin is sin, no matter what you call it.
The idea is when you are faced with sin is to not focus on it, but to focus on what Christ did to take it away. Sin makes you turn from God, and our goal is to run toward him, it is a reminder that we need Christ’s sacrifice in order to walk with him.
When you sin do this: ask the Lord to forgive you of what you have done wrong, find a passage that deals with that particular sin, study the passage, pray once more for God to help you deal with that sin, and when you are faced with it again remember what the scripture told you. This is not easy, and might need more guidance from a minister, but this is a great start in your sprint towards God.
To help you understand sin and how we should respond, read the story of David and his sin with Bathsheba in 2 Samuel 11-12, and his response Psalm 51. This will lay out a specific sin and the proper reaction from David.
