SHELBYVILLE, IL. —
Legendary gospel group The Lesters join together with McMillan & Life to perform at the second annual McMillan & Life Gospel Homecoming at Victory Church of Camargo on Saturday October 9th at 6:00 p.m.
Often called “St. Louis’ First Family of Gospel Music,” The Lesters have been sharing the Word through song for four generations. With more than an 80 year history and numerous albums behind them, the group proudly brings the third & fourth generation to the stage for a sound that is 100% “PURE LESTER.” Their signature sound is a blend of inspired arrangements and vocal artistry, led by longtime performer Brian Lester. Brian, who also serves as emcee and manager, has been singing with the family since he was four. His vibrant voice and easy rapport with audiences continue to make him a favorite.
McMillan & Life combine solid gospel music careers and ministry with years of family tradition. Many will recognize them from having been part of groups such as Heartland Boys, Wilburns, Toney Brothers, New Speers, and The Lesters.
Jimmy McMillan has appeared nine times at the National Quartet Convention, taping Gaither videos and five Jubilee at Sea cruises. Jimmy is also a prolific songwriter and his songs have been recorded by numerous gospel artists.
Liz McMillan is part of one of the greatest family legacies in southern gospel. Her grandfather Alden Toney was the original tenor and founding member of the Toney Brothers when they began in 1955. Alden was also tenor for the Blackwood Brothers in the early fifties.
Also sharing the stage will be The Ascension Quartet. Their latest CD, “We Represent the King” showcases their abilities as one of the Midwest’s most beloved male quartets.
Tickets are available for $10 at the door. Victory Church of Camargo is located on the corner of Vine and Second Street in Camargo. For more information on McMillan & Life, you can go to their website at www.mcmillanandlife.com or Facebook page under Mcmillan & Life.
