Shelby County 4-Her's get Fired Up

Shelby County Cloverbud, 1st and 2nd year members attended the annual 4-H Fire-Up Workshop on February 23rd. The workshop was sponsored by Shelby County Federation members. Fire-Up is a workshop to help new 4-H members get acquainted with different types of projects. Federation members assisted in the planning and teaching of the activities. Activities included making Rice Krispy Treat Pops, learned how to plant succulent flowers and then decorated their flower pot, painted a birdhouse gourd, learned about Oberhasli Goats and learned how to milk a dairy cow. There were 25 members who attended and 10 Federation members who helped out. A big Thank You to Whitney Massey who taught the 4-Her’s about gourds and how to make a bird house gourd. Thank you to MaryBeth Massey from the Shelby County Extension Office for helping plan and organize the activities.

If interested in learning more about Shelby County 4-H, please contact Yolanda at the Shelby County Extension Office at 774-9546. 4-H is open to Youth who are ages 8-18 as of September 1st, 2012. Cloverbuds are members who are ages 5-7 as of September 1st, 2012.
