Central A&M FFA participates in Parliamentary Procedure CDE

On Wednesday, February 27, the Central A&M FFA traveled to Lake Land College in Mattoon to compete in the District IV Parliamentary Procedure Contest.

The Parliamentary Procedure CDE is where a school has to officially and properly run a mock meeting. The members are given a main motion (or topic) to discuss for 10 minutes and then judged on how well they adhere to Robert’s Rules of Order, the book which defines the rules of Parliamentary Procedure.

The Central A&M team was made up of Chairperson: Abbey Burgener, Secretary/Floormember: Lisa Parker, and Floormembers: Kelsey Burgener, Nathan Hardeman, Tyler Adcock, and Dean Adcock. Congratulations to everyone on doing a great job and keep up the hard work.

Central A&M FFA Attends Illinois Horse Fair Horse Judging Contest

Central A&M FFA decided to try something new this year and put together a team of horse judgers to attend the Horse Judging Contest put on by the Illinois Horse Fair.

The team loaded up the van bright and early on Saturday morning, March 2, and headed to Springfield to the Illinois State Fairgrounds. The horse judging contest consisted of four halter classes, four performance classes and one questions class.

Central A&M FFA Team #1 consisted of Lisa Parker – 381 pts., Nathan Hardeman – 352 pts., Drake Grubb – 351 pts., and Samantha Degenhardt – 323 pts. The team placed 15th overall. Central A&M FFA Team #2 consisted of Mo Hunter – 379 pts., Sydney Meyer – 312 pts., and Gwyn Gilkeson – 360 pts. This team placed 22nd overall.

Everyone had a great time and did very well for their first year. This team was coached by Lisa Parker.

Central A&M FFA Attend Section 16 Poultry Judging Contest

On Thursday, February 28, seven individuals from the Central A&M FFA attended the Section 16 Poultry Judging CDE at Shelbyville High School.

Central A&M FFA team members were as follows: Nathan Hardeman, Emmie Etherton, Samantha Degenhardt, Gwyn Gilkeson, Scott Myers, Rebekah Nash, and Ethan Woodard.

As a team, Central A&M placed 4th. Scott Myers was the 6th place individual overall and Rebekah Nash was the 9th place individual overall. Congratulations and keep up the awesome work.
