SHELBYVILLE, IL. —
The Cowden Pioneer Days got off to a great start, the weather was great, the crowds were huge, and the organizers were very pleased. The festival runs August 27-29 and there is something for just about everybody. From the famous rodeo, to the huge parade, and finally to the festival in the park, there is much to do.
Food vendors, crafts, and flea market are open throughout the event.
Another big highlight is the Pioneer Village, which features old time displays and crafts in the setting of authentic log cabins.
The proceeds from this event are used to start next year’s celebration and also goes back into the community in the form of Christmas activities for kids and Easter activities, and park improvements.
Please remember, No Alcoholic Beverages Allowed. It is also suggested you bring your own lawn chair.
