Moulton, Central A&M Volleyball Split
The Moulton Lady Rams were riding some sweeping success as they went into Central A&M; on Monday night, but they had to settle for a split. Ram 7th lost to A&M;, 27-29, 20-25, while the Ram 8th won, 25-13, 25-20.
Shelbyville was locked in an epic struggle with A&M; in the first game and came out on the short end, 27-29. They tried to come back in game two, but fell short, again.
"This was a very frustrating match for us,' said Ram 7th coach Stephenie Shoaff. "CAM has a good bunch of girls and they really challenged us in every part of the game. It is great for us to play with teams that will make us improve our game. Even though this was a loss, I hope that it will makes us better in the long run, as we learn from our mistakes."
"We struggled from the service line and gave away too many free points and we were not prepared, defensively, a lot of the time. On the positive side, we did get a couple of touches on the block and put up some nice passes off some of their tougher services. Hopefully, the girls can take this match as a challenge that we need to work harder to make ourselves better."
Rachel Fox led three Rams in double figures with 12 points, served a co-high aces (5), and swung for a team-high four kills. Haley Eisenbarth also served for double-digit points, scoring 11 points on two aces. She dished out a team-high three assists and had four net points (3 kills, 1 block).
Alex Johnston was the third double-digit performer, serving 10 points on three aces, and also swung for three kills. Madison Boone didn't score in double figures, but every point she served was an ace 5-for-5. Molly Yockey was the top defender with four digs.

In the 8th grade game, the Rams were in control in the 2-game set.
"The girls looked even better and were more confident," said Ram 8th coach Brittany Pierce. "We had a great night at the service line and were very aggressive. The girls are getting better at placing serves strategically. I would still like to see us be a little more aggressive at the net, but we are getting there.
"Our communication still needs some work and I know the girls realize this. We have a couple of days of practice to get ready for the rest of the week. I'm proud of the things my team is doing right now."
Morgan Lawrence led Ram 8th for the second match in a row, with almost the same production. Again, she led with 12 service points and five aces. Brandy Smith was the chief net threat swinging for a team-high five kills and one block ( 6 net points).
Lindsey Eigsti was a near double-digit performer, serving nine points with two aces. She dished out a team-high six assists and a team-high four digs. Kayla Brachbill and Sandra Williams also were near double-digit performers, serving nine and eight points, respectively.
