10 Inducted in SHS National Honor Society

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — The annual induction ceremony for the Shelbyville High School Chapter of the National Honor Society was held Tuesday, November 6, at the First Church of the Nazarene Fellowship Hall.

New members who were inducted include Mykennah Allen, Hannah Apple, Julia Bolinger, Kayla Brachbill, Jensen Cloe, Lindsey Eigsti, Josh Foster, Monica Griesemer, Rachel West and Becca Wheeler. All inductees are currently Juniors.

The inductees were welcomed by their families and the current members Seth Applegate, Maggie Bosgraaf, Darin Breeden, Keeley Buhrmester, Caleb Eloe, Sammy Hendrix, Mallory Jefson, Becca Johnson, Jake Keown, Garrett Manship, Alex Matlock, Grace Moll, Amanda Overbeck, Emily Rothrock, Cade Saddoris, Meagan Stenger, David Thompson, Abbie Watton, and Neil Yockey.

To be eligible for membership, students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.67 on a 4.0 scale. In addition, members must meet high standards of leadership, service, and character. Member of the junior and senior classes were evaluated by the high school faculty with final selection being made by the N.H.S. faculty committee.

Members and guests enjoyed a catered meal and the evening ended with a presentation by members Mallory Jefson and Grace Moll on the upcoming events the chapter will be sponsoring. Events include the fall and spring candy bar sales, a bake sale at the Fall Play on November 16-17, the “Ugly Sweater” dance planned for December 15, the LEAD Conference in Chicago in February, a couples Cupid dance in February, the annual dance for the 50-plus crowd in March, Leadership Week in April, and Teacher Appreciation Week activities in May. The chapter is also in the process of starting a paper recycling program at the high school.
