Trinity posts undefeated season

Stewardson Trinity Cardinals wrapped up their regular season play Thursday, March 14, hosting Mattoon St. John’s. Trinity 7th grade won 25-6, 25-19. The Cardinals defeated St. John’s 8th grade 25-5, 25-18.

Claire Moomaw led the 7th grade team with 15 points and 5 aces, while Anna Schlechte served 11 straight points in the 8th grade match.

The Cardinals 7th grade finished their season with a 17-2 record. The 8th grade team is 18-0 before going into their Regionals on Monday, March 18.

Stewardson Trinity traveled to St. Peter on Tuesday, March 12 and took their 17th straight win. Trinity’s 7th grade team started the night with a, 25-17, 25-18, win. The 8th grade followed by defeating St. Peter 25-14, 25-19.

Calla Roney stole the night by putting down 11 aces, along with Becca Schlechte’s 13 kills.

Trinity will host Mattoon St. John’s on Thursday at 5:30 for their last regular season match. This is also their 8th grade night, honoring Becca Schlechte and Olivia Gratz. The Cardinal’s 8th grade team remains undefeated at 17-0 and 7th grade is 16-2.

The Cardinals start regional’s on Monday, March 18 at 5:00 against Patoka. This year regionals will be held at Altamont Lutheran School, Altamont. St. Peter and Altamont Lutheran play at 6:00 and the championship game is scheduled at 7 p.m. The regional champions will advance to SIJHSAA’s Class S State Tournament at Herrin High School on March 23.
