Windsor Stew-Stras bounces back high

Windsor Stew-Stras lost their opener on Thursday but bounced back huge on Friday and Saturday, taking three straight. They beat Okaw Valley on Friday, 13-6, then swept a doubleheader against Martinsville on Saturday, 22-0, and 11-0.

Windsor/Stew-Stras erupted for eight runs in the 3rd to open up a 1-0 game on Friday. They added a 3-run spurt in the 4th and were up 12-0 before Okaw Valley got started. Okaw cut the deficit in half over the next three innings, trailing 12-6 in the top of the 7th. Windsor Stew-Stras scored again and Okaw came up empty.

Alex Allen led Windsor Stew-Stras, hitting 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs. Aaron White picked up the win, allowing one run on four hits and two walks, while striking out five. Four players had multiple hits. Bryse Bugger was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs. Ian Stremming was 2-for-3 with two runs, and Trey Leasher was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.

Okaw Valley scattered six hits among five players. Colton Sroka led Okaw, hitting 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs.

Martinsville was massacred as they showed up to Windsor on Saturday. Windsor Stew-Stras smacked 16 hits in the 22-0 rout in game 1. Mark Jones threw a no-hit, perfect game over four innings, striking out seven with no runs, no hits, no walks. Alex Allen was 4-for-4 and his teammate Theis was also 4-for-4. Both had two runs and five RBIs. Justin Fulk was 2-for-4 with four RBIs.

Windsor scored 16 runs in the first two innings, enough for the 10-run win, but added six more in the 4th to remove all doubt.

In game 2, Windsor/Stew-Stras was still hungry, especially their second line. As a new co-op, Windsor/Stew-Stras has a host of players.The ones that didn’t get as much field time in game one got their taste for blood sated.

Ben Helton threw the win, going four innings and throwing a 2-hit shutout. Tyson Warner led the hit crew with two of their seven hit, two runs and an RBI. Kramer was 1-for-2 with a run and two RBIs.

Like in their game on Friday, Windsor/Stew-Stras broke open a 1-0 game in the 3rd with a 6-run rally, followed by a 4-run burst in the 4th. Martinsville had no offensive answer. After dropping their opener, Windsor finished their weekend 3-1.
