Girl Scout Cookies For The Troops Store Front Sale March 13

It’s not just pride, it’s community pride that once again teams up the girls scouts in Shelby County, with Shelby Electric Cooperative for a special day when customers can purchase Girl Scout cookies, especially for the military personnel overseas.

The date of the special cookies for the troops sale is Saturday, March 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. between County Market and ACE Hardware on West Route 16 at the Johnston Mall.

"This has grown from an internal email 5 years ago and has become quite a community effort," said Shelby Electric Cooperative Spokeperson and cookie drive organizer Kevin Bernson. "It is just a great way to pay tribute to our troops and also help out the area Girl Scouts and we encourage everyone to come out Saturday and buy some cookies," added Bernson.

Shelby Electric along with Monical’s Pizza, Macari’s Service Center, the Edward Jones office of Tad Mayhall, State Farm Agent Jeremy Jokish, County Market, Ace Hardware and WalMart all in Shelbyville and R & K One Stop in Findlay will all be paying for the cost of shipping the girl scout cookies to the troops.

"It's just the right thing to do to show our military men and women that we appreciate what they are doing for us -- putting their lives on the line for our freedoms everyday,” said Tad Mayhall of the Edward Jones Shelbyville Office. "I've served our country and I know what it is like to receive a care package from home and I know it picks up their spirits," added Mayhall.

Come hungry as PRIDE will be on hand selling rope sausage sandwiches with all proceeds going to cover their expenses sending care packages to the troops all year long. "PRIDE has been doing care packages for years and we appreciate Pat Garlick for her efforts and for providing us with area names to ship our cookies to so come out and support their efforts as well," said Bernson.
