Arthur lances Okaw postseason

Okaw Valley had been on a mission, but Arthur lanced Okaw in the Arcola 1A Regional semi, 58-37.

A hot Okaw Valley team had to face a hot Arthur team on Friday in the semifinal. Arthur got the upper hand and didn’t let up until the outcome was a foregone conclusion, ending Okaw’s season, 58-37.

Arthur took a 6-point lead in the 1st period, 11-5. In the 2nd, Arthur charged over the Timberwolves with a 23-12 run. Arthur had doubled-up Okaw at the break, 34-15.

The die was cast and the T’Wolves were swimming upstream against a heavy current in the 3rd period. They couldn’t make up any ground, scoring just eight points and five points further back.

To begin the 4th, Okaw was down by 22 points, 47-25. Okaw got in some final shots and won the period 12-11, but then had to take their season bows.

Garrett Sparks had been the Okaw Valley leading scorer of late and he was in the final game of their season. He scored 11 points and was the only T’Wolf in double figures.

Arthur connected nine times from beyond the arc from six different shooters, while Okaw had just two treys.
