Randy Jones, 16, of rural Tower Hill experienced mechanical problems with his 2007 Ford truck causing the truck to catch on fire at approximately 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 14. His father said he believes the fuel pump malfunctioned spraying gas on the hot engine causing the fire. Jones was traveling on Illinois Route 16 just east of Tower Hill when the truck started smoking. The truck was a complete loss.
Shelby County deputies and the Tower Hill Fire Protection District responded.
