A two car accident sent three people to Shelby Memorial Hospital Saturday morning. The time the Sheriff Department was notified was 11:43 a.m.
Tyler Woolard said he driving a 1992 GMC Sonoma east on Illinois Route 16 just east of Shelbyville coming down the hill. A 1997 Ford Taurus driven by Alberta M. Ray, 80, of Sullivan pulled out of the Clarksburg Road and stopped in front of Woolard’s truck. Woolard said the driver was looking to other way. Woolard said he could not stop and hit the Ford in the side.
The people from the Ford were transported to Shelby Memorial Hospital by Shelby Ambulance. Beside the driver there were two passengers in Ray’s vehicle. They were Heath Ray, 37, also of Sullivan, and a juvenile, 10 years old, in the back seat. Woolard was transported to Shelby Memorial in a private vehicle, by his mother.
Deputy John Sanders said Ray will be issued a citation for disobeying the stop sign and Woolard will be issued a citation for operating a vehicle with no insurance.
The Shelbyville City Police, Shelby County deputies, Shelby County Rescue Squad and the Shelbyville Fire Protection District all responded to the accident.
