Two Shelby County Students Named John Culumber Scholarship Winners


Shelby Dennis, daughter of Tony and Carol Dennis of Herrick, and Kaleb Pruemer, son of Brian and Karen Pruemer of Shelbyville were recently named the first winners of the John Culumber Memorial Scholarship.

Dennis is a senior at Pana High School and will be attending Lake Land College in Mattoon in the fall to pursue a degree is pre-veterinary medicine.

Pruemer is a senior at Shelbyville High School and will be attending the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana in the fall to pursue a degree in animal sciences.

Georgia Culumber and her family presented the scholarships in the amount of $1,000.00 to Shelby Dennis and Kaleb Pruemer at the Pana and Shelbyville High School awards programs in May.

Dennis and Pruemer were both selected for the scholarships based on their academic accomplishments, activities in school and community, self analysis and recommendation letters.

The John Culumber Memorial Scholarship is being perpetuated through the Shelby County Farm Bureau Foundation. Applications for the 2010-2011 school year will be available January 1, 2010.
