Trinity 7th Wins Effingam Invite
The Stewardson Trinity Lutheran Cardinal 7th grade volleyball team claimed the Effingham Invitational championship on Saturday.
Besides Trinity, Effingham hosted Mattoon and Ramsey. Trinity beat them all, including the host team. The Lady Cardinals beat Effingham, catching them in a slow start in game one, 25-12, then holding on the out-battled them in the second game, 27-25.
Trinity also took care of business against another 3A team, Mattoon. Again, after smacking Mattoon upside the head in the first game, 25-17, the Cardinals took Mattoon’s best shot and still won, 25-20.
In the final match, Trinity beat Ramsey, with a solid first game, 25-20, and a dominant second game, 25-14. Trinity ran the table and ran their undefeated record to 8-0.
Trinity 7th grade volleyball is 8-0, while Trinity 8th grade is 10-0.
