New Business Wants to Act as Sound Stage for New Bands--Poorman’s Playlist

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — The finishing touches are being put on the building located at 132 East Main Street in Shelbyville.   The property is owned by local contractor Connie Nacke and her daughter Tiffany Nacke will be running the business,  which is called Poorman’s Playlist.  As far as the type of business this would fall under entertainment.

“We plan to have all types of events like country bands, possibly a comedy night, we are planning an art show for charity and different events like that,” said Tiffany Nacke.  “Mostly things to get people out of the house and have something to do that doesn’t involve alcohol.”

Nacke said the grand opening will be Saturday, July 9, and there are five heavy metal bands scheduled to play.  The doors will open at 5 p.m. and the music will start around 5:30 p.m. and run until around 10 p.m.  One band will be coming from as far away as Ohio, one local band called “Reach for the Sky”, another from Champaign and another from Decatur and finally one from Southern Illinois.  She is hoping to raise funds on this grand opening.

“This will be mostly a fundraiser because I know kids will come out to it.”

“There will also be merchandise sold by the bands such as CDs, T-shirts, poster and items like that.”

She is hoping to sell drinks and snacks.  There will also be security walking around all evening.

She also said she hopes to use the business as sort of a sound stage for new bands.  She said it is difficult for a new band to start out and this will give them an opportunity.

“If any bands want to contact me from this article, they will welcome to call me or find us on Facebook at Poorman’s Playlist.”
