Stew-Stras 8th Nipped By Sacred Heart In NTC
Stew-Stras 8th went to the NTC 8th grade tournament this weekend, but were nipped in the bud, 38-37
Brandon Helmuth was off the hook, scoring a game-high18 points for Stew-Stras, making the 1-point Star loss that much more disappointing. Even with Helmuth's season-high, was chased by two Sacred Heart scorers that led their team to the win. Hayes had 17 points and Carie was limited by the Stars, but still scored 12.
It was a tight game early, the Sacred Heart took a 6-point lead at the break, 19-13. Heading down the stretch, Sacred Heart led by seven, but the Stars were spoiling for a comeback. The pushed the ball and scored 15 points in the furious fourth. Sacred Heart only scored nine, but it was just enough to survive the push and get the 1-point win.
Stew-Stras 8th finished the regular season 6-11. They are now off until the 8th grade regional.
