Central A&M Raids Sullivan, 43-41
Central A&M; went into Sullivan on Tuesday night and counted coup on the Redskins in their own wigwam, coming from behind for a 2-point win, 43-41.
Ryan Workman led the Raiders with a game-high 20 points, nine points in the fateful fourth. A&M; trailed 29-26 after three periods in a lackluster game to that point. But then, things got interesting.
Sullivan's frenetic guard, Bowman, scored three times in the fourth for six of his eight points. Righter had a pair of twos and 2-of-3 free throws for six of his 12 points. That matched the 'Skins output in the third period when they took the lead. However, the Raiders also turned up the intensity down the stretch.
Trent Duncan scored twice and was 1-of-2 at the line for five of his seven points, Collin Townsend scored and Dillon Sirbaugh split a pair at the stripe for eight points. That wasn't enough points to hang with Sullivan late, let along make-up the 3-point deficit. But Workman, who has become the Raiders leading scorer out of the post , hit a pair of twos and went to the line three times, making 5-of-6 free throws, for nine points, enough to tipthe scales for a 2-point win. Workman made 10-of-12 foul shots in the game by himself, while Sullivan made just 6-of-16.
Central A&M; travels to Argenta on Friday.
