David Gene Davis 64, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away Monday Sept. 10, 2012 in St. John's Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday Sept. 13, 2012 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Pastor Sam Hester will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until time of the service. Military rites will be performed by the Shelby County Honor guard. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be made to the college fund for David Gene Davis` grandchildren or to the Shelby County Honor Guard. On line condolences may be made to the Family at www.lockartgreenfuneralhome.com
Gene was born Dec. 7, 1947 in Shelbyville, IL the son of John Harmon and Lola Gladys Helton Davis.
He was a graduate of Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1966 and attended Sparks Business College in Shelbyville.
Gene served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1969 - 1970. For most of his working life he was employed as a cost accountant at Midwest Body Co. in Paris, IL. He was, formerly employed at Oliver Corporation in Shelbyville and also worked at service stations owned by Lyle Wicker and Mike Storm. He was affiliated with the Church of Christ.
Surviving children are triplets: Rebekah Kobielnik and husband Stanley of Strasburg, IL, Elizabeth Rystrom and husband John of Stromsburg, NE and John H. Davis and wife Karrie of Edgewood, IL; fiancé Donna Howell and her daughter Susan Howell of Tower Hill; nine grandchildren: Erika Davis, Dawnikah Kobielnik, Christian Rystrom, Christina Rystrom, Jessica Hassebrock, Hayley Hassebrock, Alisha Reider, Eric Wakeland and Tamra Thevenot; sister: Carol Elbert and husband Victor of Shelbyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
