Lorene E. Schafer, 84, of Pana died Friday, December 28, 2012 in Heritage Health-Pana.
She was born November 8, 1928 in Pana, the daughter of John & Odile Goethuys Kramer. She was a graduate of Pana Township High School class of 1947.
Lorene Kramer and John L. Schafer were united in marriage on December 18, 1947. For over 60 years she worked side by side with her husband Jack operating the family farm, and living all of their married life in the same house northwest of Pana. She enjoyed fishing and working with her flowers and was a member of United in Faith Church, Pana and Pana Ladies Elks.
Lorene is survived by her children: Louis “Mike” Schafer & wife Gayle, Pana, IL; Sharon R. Nelson-Long & husband Marshall, Lehigh Acres, Florida; Raymond S. Schafer & wife Kay, Holmen, WI; 4 grandchildren: Aaron Schafer & wife Sue, Owaneco, Kelly Williams and friend Aaron Barringer, Paxton, Kyle Schafer, Minnesota, Cori Schafer Wisconsin; and by 3 great grandchildren: Eric & Elizabeth Schafer and Marissa Williams.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband on March 24, 2012.
Memorials may be made to United in Faith Church, P. O. Box 78, 609 Fairgrounds Road, Pana, IL 62557.
Funeral services will be Sunday, December 30, 2012 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Marilyn Rauch officiating. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Pana. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.
