Wood River, IL



Rita Stansberry, 82, passed away at 4:46 am on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at her residence.  

She was born on June 20, 1930, in East St. Louis, Illinois the daughter of the late Edward and Gladys (Keraghan) Lancey.  She married Jack Stansberry on February 12, 1950, and he preceded her in death on August 17, 1990.  

Survivors include two daughters and sons in law: Kathy and William Pointer of Bethalto, Jamie and Larry Hahn of DeMotte, Indiana, two granddaughters: Stacy Perry Ehrman and her husband: Donovan of Brighton, Heidi Hahn Seaman and her husband: Troy of DeMotte, Indiana, four great grandchildren: Lindsay Seaman, Kaylee Seaman, Sydney Ehrman, and Jackson Ehrman, one brother: Terry Lancey and his wife: Virginia, a sister in law: Mary E. Rincker and her husband: Lloyd of Shelbyville, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.    

She formerly owned and operated Rita's Uniforms in downtown Wood River.  She then was employed for Security Armored Car in St. Louis prior to her retirement.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother: Jack Lancey, as sister in law: Jean Lancey, a sister in law: Barbara S. White, a brother in law: Ralph.    

In celebration on her life, visitation will be from 10:30 am until time of funeral services at 12 pm on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River.  Private burial will be at Woodland Hill Cemetery in East Alton.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Wood River Police Association or to the Wood River Firefighter's Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
