John W. Jones, Windsor

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — John W. Jones, 91, of Windsor died Tuesday (June 5 2012) in the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, Windsor with Rev Richard Eident officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Windsor Cemetery with military rites. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer’s Association (ALZ.org) would be appreciated by the family.

He was born October 13, 1920 in Sunnyside, UT   the son of Henry and Velma (Brown) Jones. He married Mary Annetta Neal April 19, 1942 in St. Charles, MO.  

John worked at Hubbard Electric in Decatur for over 35 years. He ran radar on a gun boat in WW II with United States Navy. He was active in Kiwanis, Masonic Lodge, member and former Deacon of the Windsor Christian Church and with Windsor schools serving on the school board and scorekeeping at basketball games. Being an avid golfer, if he wasn’t home, you knew he was on one of the greens. A Christian man who loved making memories with family, especially with the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Mary Annetta Jones of Windsor; children, Shari Nichols of Bourbonnais, John (JB) Jones and wife Ann of Mt. Prospect and Candy Jones of Huntley; 8 grandchildren, Melissa Winnick (husband Jerry) of Ft Lauderdale, FL, Jeff Galloway (wife Dawn) of Paris, Kimberly Jones of Holland, MI, Wendy Morey (fiancée Stacey Stephens) of Round Lake, Kara Bowhay (husband) Eric of Thornton, CO, Brandy Isaac (husband) Mike of Glenview, Chris Jones of Rolling Meadows, and John Lynch of Huntley; 13 great grandchildren, Alexis Romolo of Ft. Lauderdale, FL Jordan Maxwell (husband Trent) of Martinsville, Samantha Montgomery of Holland, MI, Alex Cavaney of Mattoon, Caeley Jones of Mt. Prospect, Robert Galloway of Paris, Christopher Jones of Mt. Prospect, Thomas Jones of Holland, MI, Mason Isaac of Glenview, Paul Bowhay of Thorton, CO, Lauren Isaac of Glenview, James Bowhay of Thornton, CO.and Taylor Isaac of Glenview.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Jones and Velma Bridges, brother Bob Jones, sister, Mary Ann Dunscomb, aunt and uncle, Violet and Joe Junke.
