Ella Mae Adams West, 89, of Sullivan passed away 11:05 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2012 at Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville.
Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Marrowbone Township Cemetery, Bethany. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or to the donor's choice.
Ella Mae was born May 22, 1923 in Centerville, South Dakota, the daughter of Cyril (Ebe) and Vera Mae (White) Adams. She married Earl R. West on December 23, 1939 in St. Charles, MO. He preceded her in death on December 22, 2003. Ella was a seamstress and loved to crochet and knit. She also loved to paint. She was known for her cooking and served meals for the Ambucs Club of Sullivan and was head cook at the Titus Memorial Home for numerous years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.
Ella Mae is survived by her sons, Don (Connie) West of Sullivan, and Harold (Vickie) West of Sullivan; daughter, Mary (Fred) Becker of Tower Hill; brother, Bob (Kay) Adams of Strasburg; sister, Geraldine Mathis of Albion; 8 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Ella was preceded in death by her husband, and infant son and daughter, brothers, Cyril and Leo Adams and sister Phyllis Fritz.
The family would like to thank all who touched our lives at the Shelbyville Manor. Thank you for your loving care and friendship.
