Lennel E. Phegley, 96, of Shelbyville died at 5:22 a.m. Monday (August 13, 2012) at the Shelby Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Pastor Monte Bowers officiating. Visitation will be from noon until service time. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be made to the Shelby Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

He was born January 17, 1916 in Lakewood the son of John Edward and Ocla (Trout) Phegley. He married Juanita Marie Lawrence December 7, 1947 in Mt. Zion.

He was a retired farmer and formerly employed at International Harvester in Shelbyville and the grain elevator in Middlesworth. He served in the US Army during WW II and was a member of the Shelby County Farm Bureau.

Surviving are his wife, Juanita; children, Kathryn McCan Kalaher (Ed) of Carlinville, Judith Cox (Robert) of Lerna, Paul Phegley (Kathy) of Martinsville, Becky Pierson (Noel) and David Phegley both of Shelbyville and Pam Mausling (Brad) of Gilbert, AZ; sisters, Genevieve Adkins (Roy) of Ohlman, Vida Hayward, Ruby Prater and Merle Himes (Don) all of Shelbyville; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandchild, Daryl Phegley, one great-grandchild, Frannie Cox, sister, Alta McKittrick and brothers, Merlin, Max, Clem and Earl Phegley.
