David B. Friese, 55, of Stewardson, IL passed away at 7:38 PM Sunday August 5, 2012 in St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday August 9, 2012 in Trinity Lutheran Church in Stewardson, IL. Pastor Richard Bremer will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 PM Wednesday in the Church. Burial will be in Stewardson Cemetery, Stewardson. David was born December 19, 1956 in Effingham, IL the son of Clinton and Evelyn Carroll Friese.
He married Twila Kessler in November of 1979 in Strasburg, IL
He later married Annie Reel on June 24, 1995 in Stewardson.
David began working at Dagwood's Sinclair Station in Stewardson. Later, he worked at Beal's Ford dealership in Stewardson. He worked as a carpenter with Larry Painter building houses in the Stewardson area. In 1986 he began his employment with the Village of Stewardson serving in many capacities and was still employed there at his passing. He was the Village Building Inspector for many years.
David was a dedicated member of the Stewardson Fire Department for over 25 years. He and Gilbert Brummerstedt, owner of Brummerstedt Funeral Home, co-founded the Stewardson Ambulance Service. He was a certified EMT. David also found time to time to serve as Chief Deputy Coroner for Shelby County for over 24 years.
David was a member and trustee of Trinity Lutheran Church of Stewardson. He was an outdoorsman who was an avid hunter and fisherman.
David, truly, loved serving friends and neighbors of the village of Stewardson. He was a good citizen who was dedicated to his community. But most of all, he valued his Family. He was totally devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren.
Surviving David are his wife Annie; sons: Andrew Friese and wife Beth of Stewardson, James Thomas “J.T.” Friese of Stewardson; daughters: Angela Edwards and husband Jason of Strasburg, Regina Shafer and husband Jeremy of Stewardson, Renea Bowers and husband Brendon of Strasburg and Bridget Polk and husband Steven of Windsor, IL; grandchildren: Hunter Friese, Callie Friese, Jasmine Shafer, Hayden Bowers and Jo Anna Bowers; father Clinton Friese of Stewardson, brothers: Ed Friese and wife Jill of Stewardson and Michael Blair of Stewardson.
He was preceded in death by his Mother and brother Danny Friese.
