Jerry Eugene Young, 71, of Rankin passed away Monday, December 10, 2012 at his home in Rankin, IL. 

He was born September 22, 1941 in Shelby County, IL the son of Jerry D. and Lilian (Martin) Young.  Jerry married Madonna Yantis on January 16, 1960 in Shelbyville, IL.  He was a charter member of the Rankin Lions Club, Rankin Fire Department for over 30 years and was serving as Trustee.  Jerry was employed at Ralston Purina in Westervelt, IL for 15 years then later in Rankin at Ralston Purina until it sold.  He then owned and operated PJ’s Lounge until his passing.

He is survived by two sons, Tony (Cathy) Young of Claremont, IL and Shawn (Lynette Brokate) Young of Paxton, IL; six grandchildren, Adam, Kyrstin, Garrett, Taylor, Hayden and Parker; one great-grandchild, Flynn Nierenhausen; one sister, Lela Kircher of Shelbyville, IL; one brother, Larry (Carol) Young of Shumway, IL and his special friend, Robin Diskin of Rankin, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Madonna, one daughter, Miki Young; four sisters, Vera, Doralee, Marge and Ruth; two brothers, Jim and Fred.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Glenwood Cemetery in Shelbyville, IL with Pastor Janet Longtin officiating.  A Celebration of Jerry’s life will be held Saturday, December 15, 2012 at PJ’s Lounge in Rankin, IL from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Memorials may be directed to Rankin Fire Department or a charity of one’s choice.
