Jay Howard Leach, 62, of Shelbyville, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in his home.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 in the Lakeside Addition of Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville or the Shelbyville Athletic Booster Foundation. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville.
Jay was born on October 4, 1950 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of William H. and Dorothea Downs Leach. He was co-owner of Leach-Wilson Chevrolet- Buick in Shelbyville. He married Susan E. Smith on July 31, 1971.
He is survived by his wife, Suzie; son, William F. Leach and wife Courtney of Shelbyville; daughter, Genevieve C. Shelton and husband Josh of Springfield; father, William H. Leach of Shelbyville; mother-in-law, Norma Merrell of Lakeland, FL; sisters, Deborah Short of Shelbyville and Sarah Chapman of Corona, CA; grandchildren, Isabel and William Leach of Shelbyville and Zane and Zachary Shelton of Springfield; and special friends, Brad and Lisa Grabb Lutchka and their daughter, Emy all of Moline, IL.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothea Leach; brother-in-law, Tom Short; and father-in-law, John E. “Jack” Merrell.
