Connie Jane (Finks) Roney, 63, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 2:33 AM Monday Sept. 17, 2012 in Springfield, Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Connie was born Nov. 29, 1948 in Shelbyville, IL the daughter of James O. and Betty Jane (Montgomery) Finks Sr.
She married Jay L. Roney on Sept. 19, 1970.
She attended Stevens College in Columbia, MO and Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL. Connie was first and foremost a home maker for her family. Formerly, she was employed at Finks Jewelers and as a legal secretary for attorneys, Tom Finks and James Proffitt, all in Shelbyville. She also served on Glenwood Cemetery Board of Directors
She loved her family above everything, and her greatest joy were her beloved grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband Jay; son, Jared Lynn Roney and his special friend, Melinda Johnston of Shelbyville and daughter Lisa Jane Ellerbrock and husband Bradley of Atkinson, IL; grandchildren: Calla Lynn Roney, Cole Bradley Ellerbrock and Kendall Jane Ellerbrock; brothers: Mason Finks and wife Ginny of Aurora, CO, James O. Finks Jr. and wife Patti, Tim Finks of Shelbyville and Tom Finks and wife Valerie of Taylorville, IL and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday Sept. 21, 2012 in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Connie's brother, Mason Finks and Gary Crowder will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM Thursday in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Memorials may be made to Pride Packages (gift packages for our U.S. Veterans who are protecting all of us)
