Robert E. Bly, 75, of Shelbyville, died at 10:25 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2008 in Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with Rev. Greg Breeden officiating and military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. The family requests casual attire. Memorials may be given to St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Mr. Bly was born on May 4, 1932 in Shelbyville, the son of Lawrence and Etta Tripp Bly. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #4829 in Shelbyville. Robert was a truck driver for Spector Freight in Decatur and later Moomaw Trucking in Stewardson. He also was a driver for Boarman’s Auto Sales and Service in Shelbyville. He married Helen Griffith Williams on November 27, 1993.

Surviving are his wife, Helen; son, Robert (Candice) Bly of Towanda; daughters, Cheryl (Art) Logsdon of Shelbyville, Teresa (Ronald) Brown of Mattoon, Penny (Alec) Ingram of Windsor and Paula (Rob) Chasteen of Shelbyville; step-son, Rick Williams of Mattoon; brother, Ralph (Helen) Bly of Beecher City; sisters, Violet (Paul) Tripp of Shelbyville, Nancy (Henry) Gatton of Shelbyville and Rosemary (Tim) Thurman of Decatur; two step-brothers; three step-sisters; fifteen grandchildren, Jason, Joseph, Allison, Matthew, Jessica and Shawn Bly, Adam (Misty) Logsdon, Benjamin Logsdon, Christopher and Elizabeth Hoehn, Nichole (Ryan) Britnell, Derek and Michael Brown, and Darrian and Makyla Chasteen; seven step-grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, Rachael and Olivia Bly, Scott and Destin Logsdon, Savannah Hoehn, Emma Britnell, Christian Richardson, Caitlyn and Geoffery McGahey; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Hanna Bly; brothers, Lawrence Bly, Jr. and James Henry Bly; and great granddaughter, Jordyn Bly.
