Bobby Wilson, 79, of Tower Hill, died Monday, March 24, 2008, in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur. Mr. Wilson was born April 4, 1928 in Baxter Springs, KS, the son of Claude C. and Geneva L. Catron Wilson.
He came to Tower Hill from Channahon, IL, in 1992. He worked as a union carpenter from 1948 until his retirement in 1989. He loved the outdoors, nature, fishing, hunting, and was an avid coon hunter.
Mr. Wilson was a membership of New Hope Baptist Church, Pana; member and honorary member of the Local 174 Carpenter's Union, Joliet; member of the Fox and Coon Hunters Association; and a life member of the NRA.
He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
He married Clara L. Helms on June 28, 1952, in Eureka Springs, AK
He is survived by his wife Clara Wilson, Tower Hill; daughter: Marrilyn A. Ellis and husband Billy W. of Metropolis; grandson, Jacky Lee Peavler and wife Melissa of Shelbyville; great grandson, Ryne Lee Peavler
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or Donor's Choice
Visitation will be Thursday, March 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home, Pana, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Don Pease officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, March 28, 2008 from 5 to 7 p.m. in Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet, IL 60431. A funeral service will be Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, Joliet, with Pastor Bob Hahn officiating. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet.
