Marianna W. Carder

Stewardson

Marianna W. Carder, 77, of Stewardson, IL, passed away at 6:45 a.m. Sunday (November 2, 2008) in the East View Terrace in Sullivan.

Marianna was born Aug. 3, 1931 at Humboldt, IL the daughter of Odell and Irene Ceapshaw Woodcock.

She married George Hadden in Decatur, IL in 1950 and he passed away.

She married James Calvin Carder in Strasburg, IL in 1979.

Marianna was a homemaker and formerly worked at General Electric and Borg Warner Corp. both in Decatur. She loved to read and write for enjoyment and loved gospel and blue grass music. She could sing gospel music and play the fiddle. For several years she would help cook authentic Indian food at the Okaw Indian Festival at the Lake Shelbyville Dam. Marianna loved her Lord and attended the Holland Community Church at Holland, IL.

Surviving are her husband James; son George Douglas Hadden and wife Susan of Gulf Breeze, FL and daughter Carol Ann Clark of Collinsville, IL; step-children: Marcheta Wheeler of Berlin, Mass., Winona Barnett of Visalia, CA, James Foster Carder of Edgewood, IL and Jefferson Winslow and wife Edna of Beardstown, IL; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters: Farice (Toots) Brown and Sue Ella Smith both of Sullivan, IL and Judith Childers and husband Bruce of Houston, TX.

She was preceded in death by her husband George, parents, brothers William Woodcock and Robert Woodcock and nephew Mark Woodcock.

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM Wednesday Nov. 5, 2008 in Stewardson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 PM Wednesday at Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson. Memorials can be made to WJLY Radio Station at Ramsey, IL.
