Irene E. Miller, 93, of McLeansboro, IL formerly of rural Toledo, IL passed away at 3:25 P.M. Monday, February 20, 2012 in the Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, IL. Irene was born June 26, 1918 in Oliver, IL, the daughter of Griffith and Maude (Armstrong) Miller. She married George William Miller July 8, 1939 in Mattoon, IL, George passed away February 29, 1992. Irene was a single room School Teacher, a Homemaker and a Farm Wife. She was a member of the Southside Church Of Christ in Mattoon, IL, the Stitch And Chatter Club - Home Extension. Irene loved painting, leather craft and metal craft.
She is survived by two sons, Glenn Miller & wife Karin of McLeansboro, IL, Carl W. Miler & wife Nancy of Shelbyville, IL; one brother, Carl J. Miller of Paris, IL; one sister-in-law, Margaret Thornton of Neoga, IL; five grandchildren, Deann Kimmel & husband Joe of Paducah, KY, Stephen Miller & wife Alisha of McLeansboro, IL, Bruce Miller & Wife Laura currently stationed in Malaysia, Keely Roy & husband Kevin of Monticello, IL, Brian Miller & wife Cecilia of Brooklyn, NY; thirteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews. Irene was preceded in death by, her parents; husband George William Miller; brother, George Walker Miller; sisters, Faye Garde & Fern Redman.
A local visitation will be from 6 - 8 Thursday evening, February 23, 2012 at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, IL. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Swengel - O’Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, IL with Visitation from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the Swengel - O’Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, IL.
Burial will be at the Drummond Cemetery east of Neoga, IL
Memorials may be made to the Church Of Christ in McLeansboro, IL or Southside Church Of Christ in Mattoon, IL.
