Gladys E. Paslay, 86, of Tower Hill, died Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at her residence.

Mrs. Paslay was born May 14, 1926, in Hillsboro, daughter of Henry W. and Gertrude E. (Dietl) Jurgena. She married Cloyd “Blackie” Paslay of February 3, 1951, in Ramsey.

She attended school in Coffeen. She retired in December 2011 after working as a CNA for 35 years. She had worked at both Heritage Manor, Pana, and Shelbyville Manor. She also worked at Mallory’s in Pana and the garment factory in Hillsboro and Pana. She was a member of the Christ Tabernacle Church, Herrick.

Surviving are her children: Harry (Nancy) Jones and Ramona (Brian) Wood, both of Tower Hill; four grandchildren: Tina (Jerry) Ray of St. Augustine FL, Tim (Angie) Jones of Shelbyville; Jennifer Owens of St. Augustine, FL; and Quincy (Whitney) Wood of Shelbyville; five great grandchildren: Mia Jones, Grady Jones, Lauren Jones, Ephram Wood, and Addison Wood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on August 8 , 1998, grandson Blake Wood, brother William A. Jurgena, and sister Mary Ellen (Jurgena) Jones.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 22, in Christ Tabernacle, Herrick, at 10 a.m. with Bishop Thomas Suey officiating and Rev. Norman R. Paslay II assisting. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, October 21, at McCracken-Dean Funeral Home. Burial will be in Tower Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to M.A.P.S. School playground at Christ Tabernacle Church, Herrick, or Quad County Hospice.
