Karl August Heinrich Engelbrecht, 94, of Neoga, IL, formerly of Kansas City, KS, died at 11:15 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2012 in Heartland Christian Village, Neoga, IL.

 Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2012 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL with Rev. Steven Becker officiating.  Visitation from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the church.  Graveside services with military rites will be held at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, September 27, 2012 in Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.  Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Strasburg, IL is in charge of arrangements.  Memorials maybe given to Calvary Lutheran High School, Jefferson City, MO or Trinity Lutheran School, Stewardson, IL.

 Mr. Engelbrecht was born on July 8, 1918 in Honey Creek, MO, the son of Adam Friedrich and Barbara Louise Ahlers Engelbrecht.  Karl was a U. S. Army veteran of WW II.  Following his time in the service, Karl received his Chiropractic Degree from Cleveland Chiropractic College, Kansas City, MO.  He was a retired railroad worker and a former supervisor for a grain elevator.  Karl was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL.  He married Lillian S. L. Willenburg on February 14, 1948.

 He is survived by his wife, Lillian of Neoga, IL; son, John Engelbrecht and wife Becky of Jefferson City, MO; daughter, Esther Becker and husband Rev. Steven of Strasburg, IL: brother, Lawrence Engelbrecht and wife Marilyn of Harrisonville, MO; sister, Gladys Otte of Belton, MO; and two grandsons, Jonathan and Jason Becker both of Strasburg, IL.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Walter Engelbrecht.
