Robert E. (Bob) Brownlee, 72, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 11:18 a.m. Wednesday July 11, 2012 in Shelby Memorial Hospital in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will held at 11:00 a.m. Friday July 13, 2012 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Pastor Kevin Ray will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service on Friday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Bob was born Dec. 7, 1939, in Lakewood, IL the son of James A. and Gertrude Johnson Brownlee.
He began working for the State of Illinois as a page in the Illinois State Capital Building immediately after graduation from Shelbyville High School. He then went on to work in the Secretary of State's Office and the Illinois Department of Public Aid Office both in Springfield, for over 40 years. He retired in 1999.
Surviving are his sister, Nancy Gaugh of Effingham and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Irma Sphar and Beverly Endsley and brothers-in-law: Floyd Sphar, Gene Gaugh and Leroy Endsley.
