Findlay



Clifford E. “Snuffy” Snuffin, 89, of Findlay, IL, passed away at 11:20 AM Monday, Sept. 24, 2012 in the Shelbyville Manor.   

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday Sept. 27, 2012 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Findlay.  Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until time of the funeral on Thursday.  Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery at Findlay, IL.  Military rites will be performed by the Clarence Bixler American Legion Post # 409 of Findlay.  Memorials may be made to the Clarence Bixler American Legion Post #409 of Findlay.

Snuffy was born Dec. 4, 1922 in Findlay the son of Alvoid and Verna Weger Snuffin.

He married Letha Emily Donahoo and later married Lorraine Ford and she passed away.

Snuffy served his country in the United States Army during WWII and was a 70 year member of the Clarence Bixler American Legion Post #409 of Findlay.  He was also a former member of the Church of God in Findlay.

For many years he was manager of Furste Auto Supply in Tuscola, IL.  Later he drove an auto parts delivery truck  for S& R Auto Parts.  Finally he owned and operated Renies Bait Shop south of Findlay.

He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed refinishing antique steamer trunks.  

He was a gentle soul.  He  was always friendly and new no strangers.

Surviving are nieces: Wilma Plunkett of Findlay, IL and Linda Hartman and husband Larry of Decatur, IL; nephew Gene Vadakin and wife Sue of Mattoon, IL; great nieces and nephews: Judy Stevens of Findlay, Teresa Stevens of Findlay, Lorrie Welton and husband Leroy of Shelbyville, Mitch Hartman and wife Kris of Moweaqua, Jeremy Vadakin of Eureka, CA and Jason Vadakin of Mattoon; several great  great nieces, nephews and cousins and his faithful pup, Benji.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lorraine Ford, sister Bonnie Vadakin and brother William Earl Snuffin.
