Susan Paxton, 47, of Mattoon, passed away at 9:20 a.m. on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign.

Memorial services honoring her life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 19, at the Schilling Funeral Home, 1301 Charleston Avenue in Mattoon with Brother Darrell Best officiating.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Susan was born July 16, 1962 in Grand Island, Nebraska, a daughter of Gary and Marla (Armagost) Welton.  She married Carey V. Paxton on May 17, 2003.  She was preceded in death by her son, Jason Paxton; her father-in-law, Floyd Paxton and nephew, Noah Paxton

Survivors include her husband, Carey Paxton of Mattoon; her daughter, Kelli and husband Matt Shriver of Mattoon; her grandchildren, Belle and Coen Shriver of Mattoon, her parents, Gary and Marla Welton of Charles City, Iowa; her brother, Guy and wife Kim Welton of Papillion, Nebraska; nieces and nephews, Jenna Welton, Trae Priest, Mitchell Welton, Jalen Priest, Peyton Priest, Tatum Priest, Halle Welton, Melissa Hulman and Jonathan Yong; mother-in-law, Barbara Paxton of Windsor; sister-in-law, Melanie and husband Howard Elliot of Seattle, Washington; brother-in-law, Larry and wife Brenda Paxton of Charleston.

Susan worked as a scheduler and purchasing agent at Blaw-Knox for twenty years.  She was employed at Rural King in purchasing for housewares and home gardening. She and Carey are owners of The Perfect Image.  She was a member and Officer of the ABATE Chapter.  She was a former member of the Neoga Jaycees and current member of Ladies of the Moose and Eagles Auxiliary.  She attended Windsor Christian Church.  She will be greatly missed by friends, family and her two dogs, Ruby and Porter.

Memorial gifts in her honor are suggested to Liberty ABATE Toys for Local Children and Fruit Baskets for Seniors or donor’s choice.
