Velma Ladene Rodman, 99, of Shelbyville, died at 3:35 a.m. Sunday, December 30, 2012 in Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Dean Cripe and Rev. Mark Sanders officiating. Visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Westervelt Christian Church.
Velma was born on November 13, 1913 in Assumption Twp., Christian County, IL, the daughter of Charles O. and Lydia Donaldson Beard. She worked at the Shelbyville Restorium for many years. Velma was a member of the Westervelt Christian Church. She married Glenn William Rodman on July 12, 1934. He died in 1954.
She is survived by her son, Glenn Richard Rodman and wife Donna of Shelbyville; daughter-in-law, Caroline Rodman of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Bill Rodman and wife Kim, Julie Navis and husband Dale, Jeff Rodman and wife Jackie, Kevin Murphy and wife Jenette, Cindy Wyatt and husband Robert, Scott Rodman and wife Ann, Carrie Aubert and husband Bill, and Steven Rodman and wife Staci; 27 great grandchildren; and 26 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; son, Ronald L. Rodman; daughter, Shirley Mae Vaughn; brother, Merle Beard; and sisters, Pearl Bridgeman and Viola Peckham.
