John A. Quinn 81 of Tuscola, IL passed away at 6:55 PM Tuesday Jan. 29, 2013 in Charleston Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Charleston, IL.

John was born Feb. 18, 1931 in Rock Island, IL.

He married Shirley Moberley on Nov. 26, 1951 Bloomington, IL.

John was a patriot and very proud of his four year service to his country in the United States Navy.   

He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois in Champaign IL and a Masters Degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL.  He taught geography and agricultural economics at the University of Illinois for 35 years, and concluded his career at the University of Illinois Co-operative Extension in Marion, IL.

John was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and was a great supporter of the Fighting Illini athletic teams at his alma mater, the University of Illinois. He loved and enjoyed music and the performing arts.  John gave of his time and talents assisting the Boy Scouts of America in their many activities.

John was a bright and talented man who loved life.  He was known for his warm smile and witty personality.  John will be sadly missed as a Husband, Father and Granddad.

Surviving is his wife Shirley; children: Liz Quinn, Jack Quinn, Scott Quinn, Peter Quinn and Jennie Sullender; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A private family gathering will be held in Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville.  Memorials may be made in John's memory to any Boy Scout Troop in the Bloomington, IL area or the National Parkinson Disease Foundation.  On line condolences may be directed to the Family at www.lockartgreenfuneralhome.com
