Wilbur Junior Rodman, 90, of Shelbyville, IL passed away at 7:55 PM Saturday Feb. 2, 2013 in Shelby Memorial Hospital in Shelbyville.  

Junior was born May 25, 1922 in Ridge Township, Shelby County, IL. the son of Wilburn “Shorty” and Della Maude Miller Rodman.

He married Laura Mae Camic on Feb. 13, 1943 in Shelbyville with the Rev. H.O. Janes officiating.  On Feb. 13, 2013 they would have celebrated 70 years of marriage.

Junior was a life long grain and livestock farmer and worked his farm until the age of 85 when he retired.  In earlier years, he and his Father operated a steam engine and did custom farm work for other area farmers.  In addition, he operated a corn shelling and trucking business.   For a while, he was employed at the Oliver Agricultural Corporation making farm equipment.

He attended Westervelt, IL High School where he played many  softball games.

He was a member of the rural, Union Baptist Church near Findlay, IL and attended, with his Family, until it closed its doors.

Junior was a past member of the Shelby County Farm Bureau and the Shelbyville Moose Lodge.  He loved to bowl, ride his horses on his farm, play hotly contested bingo with family and friends, cheer on Stan Musial and the St. Louis Cardinals and root for the Fighting Illini basketball team.  

Surviving Junior are his wife Mae; children: Linda Wagner and husband Stanley, Judy Knierim and husband Larry and David Rodman and wife Pat all of Findlay; grandchildren: Sheri Howell, Bryan Wagner, Travis Wagner, Mike Knierim, Eric Knierim, Timm Rodman, Krysie Williams Laura Novotny, Leslie Jaramillo Cari Rodman, and Chastity Rodman: great grandchildren: Seth Howell, Shane Howell, Tarcie Howell, Dalton Wagner, Baylie Jo Wagner, Austin Wagner, Preston Wagner, Brie Williams, Ivy Williams, Elias Novotny and Keane Novotny; great great grand children: Seth Howell Jr. and Maycee Howell.

He was preceded in death by sons: Danny Rodman and Larry Rodman, his parents, brother Bill Rodman, and five sisters: Evelyn Dial, Lena Walden, Helen Wade, Jeanette Beasley and Betty Baldwin.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday Feb. 7, 2013 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville. The Rev. Tom Compton will officiate.  The family requests casual attire.   Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday.  Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville.  Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.  On line condolences may made to the family at www.lockartgreenfuneralhome.com
