Bertha (Mochel) Tice Elliott, 98, of Mt. Zion, formerly of Shelbyville, Illinois, died at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2009 in Lincoln Manor, Decatur, Illinois.



Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Brother Kenneth Pierson officiating. Visitation one hour before services Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to Morningside Chapel Church of Christ, 1212 S.

34th St., Decatur, IL 62521.



Mrs. Elliott was born on November 29, 1911 in Shelbyville, the daughter of August and Amelia (Pauschert) Mochel. Bertha graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1928. She married Leverett E. Tice on November 5, 1930 in Shelbyville, where they lived until his death on August 29, 1931. On December 2, 1935 she married Orth "Pat" Elliott. They owned and operated the first Dairy Queen in Shelbyville for 10 years. He passed away on September 12, 1995. Bertha was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Decatur until it closed on July 1, 2002. She then attended Morningside Chapel in Decatur as long as her health permitted.



Surviving are her sister-in-law, Betty Biehler of Shelbyville; and many nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; brother, Carl Mochel; and three sisters, Edna Brown, Geneva Fry and Dorothy Selock.
