Harold L. Prosser, 82, of Tower Hill, IL, passed away at 8:15 a.m. Saturday Dec. 26, 2009 in the Lutheran Care Center in Altamont, IL.
He was born June 10, 1927 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Lloyd and Zula Schwenker Prosser.
He married Doris Millsap on April 26, 1947 in Shelbyville.
Harold was a long time dairy farmer and formerly worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Decatur, IL for twenty years. He was a talented mechanic, who in the 1940`s and 1950`s operated the D-X Service Station in Pana, IL. In later years he owned and operated the Prosser Tree Stump Grinding business. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Shelbyville.
Surviving are his wife Doris; children: Gary Prosser and wife Nancy of Tower Hill, IL, Rick Prosser and wife Rita of Cowden, IL, Shirley Reed and husband Dale of St. Elmo, IL, Janet Ginger and husband Nathan of Springfield, IL, Marilyn Klouse and husband Mike of Dunedin, FL, Kathy Bryson of Springfield, IL and Linda Wemple and husband Jim of Tower Hill, IL; ten grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; sister Norma Hubbartt and husband Charles of Shelbyville; brothers: Ron Prosser and wife Janet of Shelbyville, Larry Prosser and wife Vickie of Tilton, IL and Don Prosser and wife Lynn of California; sister-in-law Marilyn Prosser of Pana, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Stan Prosser and grand son-in-law Ed Clearwater.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday Dec. 30, 2009 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Shelbyville. Visitation will be from 12:30 PM until time of the service in the church on Wednesday. Pastor Barbara Stroud-Borth will officiate. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville is entrusted with the arrangements.
