Bertha J. (Rincker) Totten, 79, of Catlin, IL, formerly of Strasburg, IL, died at 8:10 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 in Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, Danville, IL.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2012 in Rincker Cemetery, near Stewardson, IL with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating.  Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Strasburg, IL.  Memorials may be given to the Rincker Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.

Bertha was born on April 9, 1933 in Mode, IL, the daughter of Vernon Martin and Esther LaVaughn Gillespey Rincker.  She graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg High School in the Class of 1951 and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religion in 1955 from Eureka College.  Bertha continued her education at Eastern Illinois University, where she majored in Geography and earned her Master of Science Degree in Education in 1973.  She was a junior high and high school English and Geography teacher.  She married Donald L. Bailey in August of 1955.  She later married J. Howard Totten in November of 1971.  He died in September of 1989.

She is survived by her son, Mitchell L. Bailey and wife Sandy of Catlin, IL; daughter, Marla Sollars of Westville, IL; three brothers; four sisters; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and a special one that she claimed as a great granddaughter.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one brother.
