SHELBYVILLE, IL. — James Lee Hays

Cowden



James Lee Hays, 84, of Cowden died at 3:44 a.m. Wednesday (October 10, 2012) at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Cowden with Don Thomas officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.

He was born August 26, 1928 in Moweaqua the son of Wayne E. and Ruth May (Humphrey) Hays. He married Rosemary Estella Trueblood July 22, 1950 in Moweaqua and was married over 60 years until her death March 14, 2011.

He was a retired farmer and affiliated with the Methodist Church. He loved to travel with his wife especially to see his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are children, David (Connie) Hays of Pilot Grove, MO, Debbie (Bill) Beck of Cowden, Ted (Dawn) Hays of Waynesboro, PA, Floyd (Robin) Hays of Cowden, Patty (Tim) Malone of Mt. Zion, Ruth Ann (Phil) Miller of Cowden and Karen (Jim) Raze of Springfield, VA; sisters, Eula Mae (Arnold) Metzger of Oreana and Von Gregory of Moweaqua; 23 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Ruth Hays, wife, Rosemary Hays, brother-in-law, Mark Gregory and grandchild, Christopher Hays.
