SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Melba L. Ethridge

Cowden, IL

 

 Melba L. Ethridge, 86, of Cowden, IL, died at 6:10 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2012 in the Lutheran Care Center in Altamont, IL.

 Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Steve Neville officiating.  Visitation will be one hour before services in the funeral home.  Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden, IL.  Memorials may be given to the American Red Cross.

 Melba was born on April 27, 1926 in Shelby County, IL, the daughter of Louis and Berte Onion Hudson.  She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1944.  She worked for Sta-Rite Ginnie Lou, Inc. and the locker plant both in Shelbyville and later was a waitress in Cowden.  Melba was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Cowden.  She married Clessie Junior Ethridge in 1947.  He died on January 9, 2006.

 She is survived by her son, Randy Ethridge and wife Mary of Charleston, IL; daughters, Sharon Randall and husband Donald of Herrick, IL and Teresa Ethridge of Sullivan, IL; sisters, Armeda Jenness of Pierson, IA and Pauline Wagner and husband Noel of Shelbyville; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.

 She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Junior; daughter, Debbie Booker; and brothers, Ralph and Paul Hudson.
