Virgil Mike Thompson, 85, of Windsor died at 4:30 p.m. Monday (December 24, 2012) at the Odd Fellows-Rebekah Home, Mattoon.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday in the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, Windsor with Pastor Jim Dona officiating.. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Windsor Ambulance Service or the Windsor Fire Department. Since Mike wouldn't be comfortable in dress clothes, the family requests casual attire.

Virgil better known as Mike was a true family man. He graduated the 8th grade in Windsor and attended one semester of high school in Windsor before leaving to start work as a farm hand. At the age of 18 Mike was drafted in the US Army and worked as a staff car driver and a cook. After 18 months of service he was honorably discharged and returned home to continue helping with his family expenses. Mike found work at the Windsor Feed Company and met his surviving wife Juanita Marie Jones Thompson. They remained in Windsor and purchased the Feed Mill. Mike and Juanita began their family and he is  survived by his sons; Charles and wife Becky, Kenneth and wife Debbie, Joseph and wife Tammy and Douglas and wife Brandy all of Windsor. He enjoyed to coon and bird hunt, but loved to fish every chance he got. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren as well as 3 sisters, Elsie Osborn of Neoga, Daisy Hanna of Sweeny, TX and Lois Ogle of Shumway.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Elsie, 12 siblings, 2 infant brothers, Blanche, Leonard, Bill, Wayne, Dale, Jim, Bessie, Orville, Shelby and Junior
