Lois A. Uphoff, 97, of Shelbyville, IL, formerly of Findlay, IL, passed away at 8:51 AM Saturday Dec. 29, 2012 in Shelby Memorial Hospital in Shelbyville, IL.

 A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday Dec. 31, 2012 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville.  Pastor Wayne Polk will officiate.  Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until time of the service on Monday in the funeral home.  Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery, Findlay, IL   Memorials may be made in Lois` honor, to the Second Street Church of Christ in Shelbyville or the Shelby County 4-H Federation. Lois was born April 7, 1915 in Todds Point Township, Shelby County, IL the daughter of Elza Aden and Mary Elzira Campbell Gordon.

She married Gilbert “Gib” Franklin Uphoff on Dec. 3, 1936 in Todds Point and he passed away Nov. 13, 1995.

Although, Lois worked for a brief time at Brown Shoe Co. in Sullivan, IL, her primary occupation was as a loving wife and homemaker. She was locally famous for her cake baking providing wonderful cakes for her family, friends and customers.  She never missed baking a special cake for each grandchild's birthday, and baked nearly all of their wedding cakes.  She was a member of the Shelby County Home Extension, had been a 4-H Leader and had worked for many years at the Illinois State Fair.

She was a lifelong member of the Findlay Church of Christ and led the singing for many years.

Surviving are her children: Duane ( Marjorie) Uphoff of Shelbyville, IL, Stanley ( Patricia) Uphoff of Shelbyville and  Roger (Judy) Uphoff of Lovington, IL ;grandchildren: Vicky (Jack)  Gibson, Jeff (Jeannene) Yantis, Melissa (Todd) Armstrong, Douglas (Sarah) Uphoff, Tim (Pam) Uphoff, Angela Uphoff, Craig (Amy) Uphoff, Christina (Brad) Holmes, Jason  (Velicia) Uphoff, Chad (Katy) Uphoff and Jenny (Jake) Moore; twenty-five great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren and eleven  great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband “Gib”, her parents, daughter Connie Yantis, grandson Thad Uphoff, great grandson Christian Gibson, sisters: Hazel Johnson, Ruby Winings and Ollie Gordon.
