John L. ( Sully) Sullivan, 66, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 4:37 p.m. Sunday, February. 28, 2010, in Shelby Memorial Hospital in Shelbyville.

Sully was born March 25, 1943, in Shelbyville, IL, the son of John Leo and Martha June Miller Sullivan.

He married Lila R. Vest on May 25, 1979, in Metcalf, IL

Sully was a member of the Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81 of Shelbyville, Old River A.B.A.T.E, the Eagles Club of Shelbyville and the Pana Gun Club.

He was a welder at Blaw-Knox in Mattoon, IL for 27 years; later worked for U.S. Express Trucking and retired from P & H Manufacturing in Shelbyville.

He loved hunting; was an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast and rode his Harley whenever possible.

Surviving are his wife Lila; son Brandon Sullivan and wife Marlene of Kapalua, HI; daughters: Shannon Barnett and husband Matt of Mattoon, IL, Jeanette Cauley and husband Bob of Red Granite, WI, Jamie Sullivan of Victorville, CA and Janet Jauqaet and husband Paul of Sagola, MI; grandchildren: Kloe', Myah, Kayle, Heather, Jacob, Josh, Jodi, Bryce, Marissa and Luke; mother Martha June Crockett of Shelbyville; sisters: Nona F. Jones and husband Richard of Downers Grove, IL and Catherine Thomas of Shelbyville.

He was preceded in death by his father John L. Sullivan.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 5, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Hudson Cemetery near Shelbyville. Memorials can be made to Old River A.B.A.T.E. in lieu of flowers.
