SHELBYVILLE, IL. —
Derek Fisher, 10, of Shelbyville was the lucky recipient of an American flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C. on June 1, 2010.
Fisher’s name was drawn at the Shelby County Republican Central Committee booth at the 4-H fair last week.
The flag was given at the request of U.S. Representative John Shimkus. The certificate accompanying the flag reads that the 3’ x 5’ flag was “flown for the Shelby county 4-H Fair in honor of all area men and women who have served our country in times of peace and war.”
Fisher is the son of Donny and Michelle Fisher of Shelbyville.
Presenting the flag is John Shambo, treasurer for the Shelby County Republican Central Committee.
